Abstract

Moulds.-In a block-moulding machine having a reversible mould adapted to be raised after reversal to discharge the block, the journals on which the mould is pivoted are raised and lowered by overhead gear. The latter comprises wire ropes j wound on to a horizontal shaft h by means of a rope m unwound from a pulley k by pulling by means of a lever r a weight n which counterbalances the empty mould. The mould a has end pivots c journaled in blocks d adapted to slide between vertical guides e and to rest normally in stops f. The mould is locked in the filling position by a pin s, and is covered by a pallet t secured during reversal by hooks v en- @ging cross-rods u, the moulded article being deposited on a truck v. The base of the mould is slotted to allow the removal of division plates y, Fig. 4, the slots being closed by pivoted plates y'. When two or more division plates are used they may be withdrawn simultaneously by pins passed through projections y<2>. Loose linings b are provided which are discharged with the cast block.
