Warehouses. - A silo or similar structure of cylindrical or other form is built up of plates 1 certain of which have apertures to form doorways 11 which are arranged above one another within a vertical shoot 14 on the exterior of the structure. Ladder irons 12 are fixed within the skoot. A pipe runs to the top for filling the structure by means of a chaff blower connected to its lower end, and downwardly extending internal pipes may lead the material down to any desired height, being disconnectible in lengths as the level of the ensilage rises. A domed roof 16 having a door 17 is provided to accommodate the men filling the structure when the ensilage has risen nearly to the top. The plates 1 have vertical flanges 2, Fig. 4, and horizontal flanges 8 connected to the adjacent flanges by U-shaped plates 3 and bolts 4, some of which have heads 6 formed as sockets to receive brackets 7 for the support of scaffolding. The lowest plates 1 are bolted to horizontal plates embedded in a concrete foundation 19 in which a drainage gulley is formed. A platform may be provided near the top within the structure.
