Ploughs; lifting tool-frames manually. -An implement for simultaneously splitting two or more ridges comprises a frame mounted on two or more concealed rollers shaped to straddle and flatten the ridges without filling the adjacent furrows, a ridging-share being arranged behind each roller. The top frame comprises transverse members 1 and longitudinal members 2 and carries a draught pole and shafts 4 and steering- handles 5. The axle 10 of the hollow concave rollers 8 is mounted in depending angle members 6. The shares are carried by bifurcated beams 14 pivotally connected to a transverse bar 12 supported by brackets The beams 14 are adjusted vertically by bell-crank levers 15 and rack quadrants 16. They are pressed down by adjustable springs, and are guided in their movements by guides 25 on U.shaped bars 24 mounted on the axle 10. Each share is connected to its beam 14 by stems provided with three holes at the end to receive bolts. The middle bolt passes through the beam, and the outside bolts limit the pivotal movement of the stem about it. In a modification, the beams 14 are dispensed with and the shares fastened to the pivoted U-shaped bars 24, which are adjustably connected by chains to hooks on the upper framework. The splitting- apparatus may be fitted to a multiple-ridge turnip sower, the suspension chains being connected to hooks fixed to handles movable in two planes and adjustably secured by a stepped plate.
