Agglomerating-processes.-In a tiltable sintering-pan the sintered mass is loosened when the pan is inverted by an automatic partial rotation of all or some of the grate bars instead of by a limited dropping movement of the bars as described in the parent Specification. Fig. 4 shows the inverted pan, the bars 8 preferably being wedge-shaped and being integrally or otherwise connected to pendent weights 16. Each bar 8 is provided with longitudinal axes 9, one of which is pivoted in a bearing 9<b> secured to a cross member 6 and the other in an anchor bar 11<a> having undercut portions to engage the top web of a cross member 6 and the adjacent bearing 9<b> respectively. Alternate grate bars may befixed.
