Swallware looms; two or more fabrics or plies, looms specially designed for.-In weaving hollow ribbons, and double-ply ribbon for girths, &c., two shuttles c, d, Figs. 1 and 2, are used for each ribbon. They are both moved in a circular path, and always in the same direction, so as to pass alternately and successively through the sheds k, l forming the upper and lower layer of the web, which may comprise an additional warp o, moved to the top of the shed l and also to the bottom of the shed k. The warps pass around bars m, n, p. The shuttles may be driven by wheels e, f operated by worms g, h. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the shuttles may be driven by wheels e, f, Fig. 4 (Cancelled), having double rims, the front rims gearing with the shuttles and the back rims with wheels q. By means of pins z, z<1> and lever mechanism x, u, v, w operated from a slotted guide, racks r, s are alternately raised and lowered into gear with the wheels e, one rack being raised when the other is lowered. When the rack s is raised, it is reciprocated horizontally in a guiding-member t so as to drive the shuttles, and, when it is lowered, the raised rack r engages and arrests the wheels e, the rack s meanwhile returning to its original position ready to drive the shuttles again, in the same direction as before, when it is again raised. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
