Abstract

177,129. Westinghouse Brake & Saxby Signal Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Oppermann, G.). March 12, 1921, [Convention date]. Fluid-pressure.-Means for regulating the pressure established in the brake cylinder of a fluid-pressure brake according to the load, comprises (1) a number of blow-down valves 8, 9, Fig. 1, any one of which can be connected to the brake cylinder by a cock 7 so as to reduce the pressure of the air supplied to the brake cylinder 4 from the auxiliary reservoir 3 by the triple valve 2, to the desired value; or (2) a number of valves each interposed in separate supply pipes such as 10 between the triple valve and the brake cylinder, any one of which can be cut in by a cock, and adapted to close when the desired pressure is reached in the brake cylinder; (3) a number of chambers one or more of winch can be connected to the brake cylinder to increase the eflective capacity thereof. Release. and isolating cocks 5, 6 are shown. The Specification as open tn inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that a single adjustable blow-down or pressure reducing valve may be used and that adjustment may be effected automatically by the load, also that the regulation of brake cylinder pressure may he effected by providing a number of auxiliary reservoirs 14, 15, 16, Fig. 3 (Cancelled), certain of which can be cut out by a cock 17. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
