Abstract
175,237. Bronander, W. B. Feb. 11, 1921, [Convention date]. Sparking-plugs. - Scavenging-air or fluid for starting may be drawn in through a tubular electrode past a ball 28. On the compression, explosion, and exhaust strokes the ball seats itself against the correspondingly - formed inner end of the electrode, the spark, in this construction, passing from the ball to the plate 30 which has a central aperture 31 and may also have further openings and radial slots. The plate 30 may be flat or dished. Transverse bars secured to the casing may be used instead of the plate. According to the Specification as open to public inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), the plate 30 may be mounted on the central electrode, or a plug secured in the hollow end of the electrode may be used for retaining the ball. In these cases the spark gap lies between the plate or plug and the casing. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
