Abstract

175,104. Elliott, R. B. Nov. 24, 1920. Sparking-plugs. -An insulator, preferably of steatite, is threaded so as to engage directly with the cylinder or ignition chamber of the engine. For facilitating insertion, a non-circular ring 8 may be secured to the insulator by screws &c. The central conductor 2, fitted in a gastight manner by a packing 4 in the countersunk end of the insulator, carries radiating terminals 3, preferably made of nickel-chrome steel. The conductor 2 may be mounted eccentrically in the insulator and a handle or lever may be attached for facilitating adjustment. A brass cap 9 may be fitted to prevent splitting of the steatite.
