Abstract
174,740. Brown, T. A., and Walker, C. Nov. 2, 1920. Making, waterproofing, and drying bricks. -A plant for making concrete bricks &c. comprises a number of parallel drying-sheds a having inclined railed floors connected bv an external track d through turntables b, c, a creeper conveyer to raise the trollies being provided at e and a press mould, preferably of the type described in Specification 174,748, [Class 87 (ii), Moulding plastic &c. substances], at s. The latter is fed with material from a mixer situated between the external rail and the kilns consisting of two hoppers h, g, which feed cement and aggregate bv way of endless carriers and shakers o, p, to the rotary drum q provided with movable spraying apparatus, the mixed concrete being delivered to the press mould by a bucket conveyer r. The trollies are arrested on the turntables b by stops u controlled by a bank of levers v, and means are provided for simultaneously releasing the trollies on alignment of the turntable rails with those of the kilns. The sheds are warmed by heating-pipes 7, moist air being withdrawn through openings 9 communicating with a shaft 8. A tank 13 is provided for impregnating the bricks with waterproofing solution &c.
