Abstract

174,263. British Northrop Loom Co. Ltd., (Northrop Loom Co.). Nov. 25, 1920. Shuttles, changing weft-carriers in, automati cally.-The weft-ends 18, Fig. 1, extending to the holder 39, are passed under clamping-springs 26 Figs. 1 and 4, on weft-end controllers 25, com prising ribbed blocks, which are guided radially in grooves in a head 17 rotating with the maga zine, and have laterally-extending shoes 29 en gaging a fixed cam 30. The controllers 25 are acted upon by springs 36, and, immediately after a weft-carrier has been transferred, the corres ponding weft-controller rides over the end of the fixed cam and is moved inwards suddenly into contact with a stop 40 so that the corresponding weft-end leading to the cloth selvedge is quickly withdrawn from dangerous proximity to the shuttle-box. As the head 17 continues to rotate with the magazine, the shoe on the inwardlymoved weft-controller engages the inner end 41 of the cam 30, and is caused thereby gradually to move outwards again.
