Abstract
174,049. Meyer, A., and Battistelli, H. Jan. 13, 1921, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Forming vials and the like articles.-Relates to machines of the type in which short lengths of glass tubing are heated in the middle and separated to form small vials or the like. According to the invention, the tubular blanks are placed upon an incline 1, Fig. 12, and released singly by plates 3, 4 which are raised alternately by cam mechanism. The released blank rolls on to two sets of rollers 8 mounted on carriages 12, 13, Fig. 6. Rollers 27 then descend and hold the blank 2 down on the rollers 8 and a flame 53 impinges upon its centre. When the blank has softened sufficiently, the carriages 12, 13 are separated by the action of cams 18, 19 and the finished vials &c. are released by the rollers 27 and lifted off the rollers 8 by pivoted fingers 33, Fig. 12.
