Wire and ribbon resistances, enclosed, cored, and mounted on frames.-In wind-screens of the type described in Specification. 164,435, [Class 20 (iii), Doors &c.], in which the space A<1>, Fig. 3, between the main screen A and a second transparent sheet B is heated by the electric conductors f, Fig. 1, means are provided for taking up the expansion of the conductors due to heating, whereby the conductors are always maintained taut. In the arrangement shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the conductor f at each turn is wrapped alternately around a fixed glass strip b<3> cemented to the sheets A, B and around a movable glass strip b<5> which abuts at its ends against rubber blocks D bearing against ledges d on fixed upper and lower glass strips b, b<1>. In the heated condition the conductors are arranged to be just taut, and on contracting when not heated they compress the resilient blocks D. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a modification, as shown in Fig. 7 (Cancelled), in which the conductors f are separate and fixed at one end, and at the free end are supported by springs h located in the space s between two glass strips b<3>, b<4>, flexible conductors f<2> between the conductors f and a wire w<1> maintaining electric continuity. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
