Tablet indicators; printing totals.-Relates to cash registers, particularly those of the key-set, key-operated type described in Specification 142,436, in which a customer's totalizer is zeroized for printing a total, and consists in means whereby the indicators may be dropped or not as desired when a total is printed, and further, in an alarm actuated by the totalizing crank. On depressing a key, a lug 256 on the indicator 255 is raised above a flange 257 on a frame 258 rocked by a cam 263 fast on a shaft 261 which acts against a roller 262 on a pitman 259 pivoted to the frame and having a slot straddling the shaft 261. The operation is timed so that the flange returns by the action of a spring 285 to the path of the lug to retain it in the raised position. On printing a total, the raised indicators may be dropped or not according to the position of a knob 264 on the end of a horizontal rod 265 which has two notches 269. 270 receiving a spring-controlled pawl 271. Fast to the other end of the rod is a bar 273 extending to the rear of the machine and having a slot 274 engaging with a stud 275 mounted in the side frame 34. The bar 273 has an upwardly-extending portion 276 carrying a stud 277 engaging in a slot 278 of a vertical rod 279, the upper end of which has an elongated opening 280 engaging with a pin 281 on an arm 282 fast on a shaft 222. Actuation of the totalizing crank rocks the shaft 222 as described in Specification 173,197, causing the bar 279 to move downwards and then return. When the pawl 271 is in the slot 269, an ear 283 on the bar 279 contacts with a pin 284 and causes the member 258 to rotate, allowing the raised indicators to fall. When the pawl is in the slot 270, the bar 279 is moved sufficiently to allow the ear to pass the pin, and the indicators are not disturbed. The alarm device is actuated by the action of a pin 236 on a rocking bar 235, which actuates the total-printing operation counter 230 described in Specification 173,197, against an arm 246 pivoted on a yoked member 244 and normally held against a pin 245 by a spring 242. The right-hand side 249 of the yoked member is in the form of a bell-hammer which strikes a bell 250 on the return movement due to a controlling-spring 248.
