Abstract
172,431. Moore, H. B. Sept. 16, 1920. Railways for recreation. -An amusement apparatus comprises a series of oppositely - inclined tracks or rails disposed one below the other each track commencing at the termination of the preceding one and the ends being interconnected by switch mechanisms so that a trolly carrying passengers is transferred from one track to another. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the trolly 2, on arriving at the lower end of a track, strikes a buffer 5, and by its weight depresses a pivoted switch 3 forming part of the track. The .switch descends into alignment with the second track 1, down which the trolly then runs and so on until the trolly reaches the end of the lowest track, from whence it is raised to the highest track by a chain 8. The switches may be secured by locking-bolts which are released by the trolly. In a modification, Fig. 2, the trolly is transferred from one track to another by automatic switch points 11 of known type, the momentum of the trolly being arrested by an upward sweep at the ends of the tracks. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 18418/09.
