Detecting faults. - In a device for testing sparking-plugs of the kind comprising two electric conductors A carrying adjustable spark-gap pins a in insulation B, the gap between the pins is formed within the insulation in a chamber b sufficiently deep to present a dark interior. The strips may be hinged or otherwise made adjustable and may have attached thereto extension pieces A'. A gauge may be supplied and may be attached to the insulation so as to span one side of the hole b. A gauge having a number of leaves after the manner of an engineer's feeler gauge may be employed.
