171,178. Cocherton, S. E., and Genatosan, Ltd. Aug. 11, 1920. Right to Patent relinquished. Medicines for internal use. - Relates to substances for use as binding-agents in the manufacture of medicinal tablets from powders, particularly aspirin and similar compounds. The binding-agent used consists of a non-adhesive farinaceous substance, arrowroot, cornflour, and farina being mentioned as examples. The aspirin and binding-agent are mixed, slightly compressed to render the mixture solid, broken down into powder form, and finally compressed to tablet form. In order to prevent adherence of the mass to the punches or moulds, a film of the farinaceous material may be blown on or otherwise applied thereto.
