Abstract
169,482. Whitehorn, H. K. May 26, 1920. Coils; cores.-Slot wedges are constructed of parallel magnetic laminae completely embedded in moulded insulating-material so as to leave a thin sheath of insulating-material to form a smooth inner surface in addition to smooth sides. Fig. 4 shows numbers of flat plates 1 placed in an insulating-sheath 2, which alternatively may be formed as a sheet 3 from which the wedges can be sheared off. The plates 1 may be replaced by a continuous strip 4 bent as shown in Fig. 7 and broken occasionally, as at the point 5. The plates of magnetic material 6 may also be shaped as shown in Figs. 9, 10, or 11, and the slots are preferably formed with rather shallow depressions.
