Abstract

168,568. Hastings, R. C. M. March 1, 1920. Drawings to Specification. Party-line systems and apparatus.-In a lockout party-line system, with ratchet-operated substation selectors controlled by impulses from an exchange, each selector comprises a disc with two peripheral grooves coacting with a group of spring contacts, which serve to complete the speaking circuits at the calling and wanted substations and the call-bell circuit at the latter station and to short-circuit the receivers at all other substations. One groove is deeper than the other and contains teeth at the normal and selective-calling positions. A pin on one of the contact springs rides in one or other of the grooves, the group of contacts being mounted so that it can be swung by an electromagnet to put it at different times under control of one groove or the other, the pin riding through slots which connect the grooves at certain points. The system and apparatus are the same as described in Specifications 168,337 and 168,338, in which other features are claimed.
