Abstract

167,329. Corrie, J. B. May 20, 1920. Droppers; wire fencing, securing to droppers.- Sheet metal U or V-shaped droppers for wire fencing are constructed with plain front edges and are corrugated transversely or indented throughout the whole or part of the length for the reception of fence wires, which are secured in position by metal clips fixed by means of a special tool. In the form shown in Figs. 7 and 8, indentations 2 are produced by the formation of projections 2<a> and the fence wires are secured by clips formed of channel-shaped wires 5 having hooked ends 5<a> which are bent over the fence wires 4. A device for securing the wires in position comprises a lever 6, Figs. 9 and 10, having secured in its lower end a bar 7 provided with hooked ends 7<b>. In operation the fence wire is placed in one of the indentations, and the hooked ends 7b of the bar 7 are placed over the wire which is forced into the position shown in Fig. 8 by means of the lever 6, and secured therein by the clip. In a modification of the dropper, the transverse grooves are replaced by smaller indentations, and the securing-clips are formed in two parts which are twisted together or secured by a right and left-handed screwed sleeve.
