Abstract
166,590. Godfrey, A. Aug. 19, 1919. Tool-holders; turrets. - A tool-holder for lathes and other turning, boring, and screw - cutting machines comprises a revolubly mounted indexed baseplate and means to advance a tool ground upon its upper surface against a stop to re-position it relatively to the height of centres. The baseplate is pivoted at 51, Figs. 1 and 2, and has index holes 100, 101 co-operating with holes 102, 104. The holes are spaced to facilitate the cutting of threads of varying angles. A tool is shaped on one side to engage an adjusting screw 6 by which the ground end is advanced against a stop 5. Clamping is effected by a screw or cam controlled lever 56. A tool 70, Fig. 4, is clamped at 72 to a holder adjustable, along an inclined guide, to bring the tool surface level with the top of the plate, by a screw 74, and clamped at 76. A tool 60 is held in a dovetail in a holder and has its ground side drawn against a locating surface by a slide 62 and bolt 66. This holder is located by a spline in a split boss 65. The various tools are arranged on the turret according to the operations required.
