Ordnance breech mechanism.-Relates to the de Bange type of obturator having a pad A of plastic material contained in a bag of wire gauze and held between split metal rings C, D of rightangled triangular section. According to the invention, the clefts 2 in the rings follow a plane parallel to the hypotenuse c of the triangle so that the resulting points p<3> are located at the edges of the rings which are remote from the pad thereby preventing perforation of the bag by the points.
