164,299. Halverson, H. A., and Samins, N. June 4, 1920, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Wicks. - Incombustible wicks for oil burners are made from a composition consisting essentially of infusorial or diatomaceous earth mixed with a binder, moulded to the desired shape, and kiln dried. A suitable composition consists of 4 parts of infusorial earth, preferably calcined, 2 parts of calcium oxide or carbonate, and 1 part of plaster of paris, all finely divided and thoroughly mixed in a wet state. The wick in use may depend into the oil reservoir or be fed with oil by pieces of textile fabric. Alternatively the composition is secured or placed on the upper end of an ordinary fabric wick.
