Delivery of newspapers.-The machine comprises a number of shelves c, Fig. 1, pivoted to a travelling endless belt d, and formed at their inner ends with @ces c<1> which slide along fixed guides e, e<1>. The guides terminate at the delivery position and permit the shelves to rock downwards in turn to deliver the newspaper a on to a platform h. The endless belt is connected at intervals by links t to a driving- chain f passing over sprocketwheels g<0>, g<1>. Sections of the belt are detachable to facilitate replenisment of the machine with newspapers. Coin action, mechanical-connection.-The wheel g<0> is mounted on a spindle g which carries two ratchet-wheels l, m‹, Fig. 2. The wheel l is rotated step-by-step by a pawl @<0>, carried by the main operating-lever k which is pivoted at k<1>, but such rotation is normally prevented by a detent m which engages with the teeth of the wheel m‹. A coin inserted in the shoot n falls into the position shown in Fig. 2, wherein it is supported by a finger m<1> on the rod of the detent m, by a spring finger o fixed to the casing, and between the bifurcated arms of the lever k. When the outer end of the lever is raised, therefore, a pin k<3> presses upon the coin, and pushes back the detent m. The pawl k<o> can then rotate the spindle g, and move the delivery apparatus by one step.
