Sterilizing milk. - Milk to be pasteurized is first heated by steam, preferably exhaust steam from the pasteurizer, in a vessel from which it flows to the pasteurizer proper. The milk is first placed in a receiving vessel 1 contained in an outer vessel 6 forming a steam jacket into which steam is introduced in jets by a pipe 4 connected to the steam exhaust of the pasteurizer 5, to which the milk is led from the vessel 1 by a pipe 8. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 4909/99, 13273/00, 12555/03, and 25393/07.
