Abstract

161,801. Wright, Ltd., J. & E., and Hallows, 3P. March 6, 1920. Reels.-Reels or drums for wire rope, &c. are closed to form a fluid-tight casing for the rope so that grease or other lubricant that surrounds the rope may not drain off. The drum 1 has wooden sides 2, 3 against which fits a flanged metal sleeve 6 in which the rope 8 is housed. A metal cover 9 is then soldered to the flanges, and the enclosed space is filled with grease, &c. through holes 10 which are afterwards sealed up. Wooden lagging 12 is finally placed round the cover 9.
