Abstract

161,740. Dawkins, W. V. Jan. 30, 1920. Cakes; confectionery; coating bakers' and confectioners' goods.-A process for ornamenting cakes, confectionery or like goods consists in tracing the required design cn the surface of the cake, by hand or by means of a stencil or by a rubber or other stamp, with a transparent adhesive edible substance, such as gum arabic or gelatine, and sprinkling it, while still wet, with finely granulated sugar, which may be coloured as required. A plurality of stencils or other mean= may be employed to produce designs in different areas of the surface to be ornamented, and the whole surface may be lightly sprinkled with white granulated sugar, after the coloured sugars have been applied. The whole surface may be coated with the transparent material which, when dry, is ornamented as above. One design may be superimposed on another to produce a relief effect.
