Agglomerating-processes.- In an ore-sintering apparatus having ore-carrying pallets on an endless conveyer arranged so that empty pallets return under gravity, the length of the upper track may be increased by upwardly inclining it from the feed to the discharge end. In the form shown, ore is carried in pallets 16 on an inclined track 14, the driving-means comprising a motor 4 and speed-reducing gearing 3. Pallets are elevated to the upper track 14 by sprocket-wheels 2, receive a layer of ore from loading mechanism 5, and then pass up the track, a burner at 22 igniting the ore. The sintered ore is discharged at the upper end of the track, and the pallets return by gravity along the lower track 15. The pallets, which comprise side walls 17 and bottom plates and rest on four track rollers 29, Fig. 6, form a continuous trough with grate members 34. Air for combustion is drawn through the ore along the whole run by air chambers 23, ducts 24 and 25, and a fan 26, and gases are discharged to a flue 27.
