Benches, work.-A work-bench comprises a work-table supported on detachable legs shorter than the length of the table, a hinged tool-carrying flap, and a board through which the legs are passed and so held apart. For transport the legs are placed in a recess in the table, the flap is folded down, and the board is placed on top of the flap. A flap 2, Fig. 1, adapted to carry a number of tools is hinged to a table 1, provided on its underside with guides 4 for a toolbox 5, and with threaded sockets attached to cross-bars 7, tubular legs 9 screwing into the sockets. A board 10, through which the legs pass, holds them apart, and is itself supported by tubes 12, Fig. 2, between each pair of legs, rods 11 secured by nuts 13 passing through the legs and through the tubes. A vice, grindstone or other tool may be mounted on the table 1, which is constructed of four longitudinal boards of which the centre two are thinner than the other two providing a recess 14, Fig. 5, to contain the legs 9, tubes 12 and rods 11. The flap 2 is held in its raised position by boards 6, screwed to the flap and to the table. When required for transit the tools are packed in the box 5 which is removed, the boards 6 are used to form a lid for the box, the legs &c. are placed in the recess 14, the flap 2 is folded down, and the board 10 placed on the top as shown in Fig. 5. The legs 9 may pass through plain holes in the table 1, and may be secured by nuts above and below so as to be adjustable for irregularities of the ground.
