Abstract

Jackets and covers; tread bands.-A tyre-protector which may form a liner between the airtube and cover, or may be in the form of a gaiter for fitting on the inside or outside of a cover, comprises a puncture-resisting mesh of wire or tough fibre such as coir, or of chain arranged between (a) a layer of fabric and a layer of leather, or (b) a layer of fabric and a layer of leather backed with fabric, or (c) two layers of leather either or both of which may have a fabric backing. In any case, the parts are consolidated by cold-curing. In the example shown, the liner consists of wire mesh 5 between layers 1, 2 of canvas or leather, which may be backed as described above.
