Abstract

160,268. Mond, A., (Miller Rubber Co.). Dec. 16, 1919. Rotary-mould-table machines; feeding.-Blanks of rubber for vulcanizing or of like material are formed in apertures in a plate 29 which rotates so that the apertures register successively with the die or nozzle 5 of an extruding or tubing machine. The die is screwed or otherwise attached to the cylinder 2, and the material is extruded with suitable cross-section. The back of the aperture in register with the nozzle 5 is closed by the head of a screwed stop 30, which is in sliding engagement with the plate 29. The extruding-machine is provided with a by-pass 40 to relieve the pressure between the presentation of two successive plate apertures, the by-passed stream being preferably under the observation of the operator. The blanks are removed from the mould apertures by a spider or star-wheel 35 driven from the shaft 27 of the plate 29 by means of bevel-gearing 31, 33. The shaft 27 is driven from a shaft 12 which is connected by changespeed gear with the driving-shaft 10 of the extrusion machine. The plate 29 is detachable from the shaft 27, so that plates with different sizes or shapes of mould aperture .can be used. The shaft 27 is supported by a plate casting 26 connected to the cylinder 2 by studs 25, and the shaft 12 and the change-speed gear have bearings on a frame 11 bolted to the pedestal 1 of the machine. The cylinder 2 and its head 4 are preferably jacketed. The moulding-device with its supporting and operating parts can be applied to an ordinary tubing machine.
