Description

(54) A TRACTOR WITH AN IMPLEMENT ATTACHING DEVICE (71) We, KLiiCKNER-HuMBoLDT-DEUTZ AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT, a German Body Corporate, of Köln-Deutz, German Federal Republic, do hereby declare the invention for which we pray that a patent may be granted to us, and the method by which it is to be performed, to be particularly described in and by the following state ment This invention relates to a tractor having bearing blocks which support a device for connecting implements to the tractor, the device being more particularly intended for connecting implements to the front of the tractor and comprising two draught links rigidly interconnected and engaging the bearing blocks so that the device is pivotable around a horizontal axis or axes, a spacing member being disposed between the two links and connected thereto.
Tractors are used for various agricultural operations, using implements which are attached to the front or rear, depending on the work to be performed. In some operations the draught links, at least the lower links where there are upper and lower links make it difficult to attach an instrument or implement to the front, so that the links ofen have to be connected and disconnected each time the tractor is used.
An aim of the present invention is to provide a device of the kind defined above for connecting an implement, which device can be manufactured economically by simple means, possesses the required rigidity, and has easily-manipulated coupling elements for connecting and disconnecting the tractor.
To this end, according to the invention, a tractor has bearing blocks which support a device for connecting implements to the tractor, the device comprising two draught links interconnected and engaging the bearing blocks in use so that the device is pivotable around the links and connected thereto, each link having a double structure at the pivot axis which embraces a respective one of the bearing blocks, and a removable pivot pin for each link which passes through the double structure and through the respective bearing block.
Since the links each have a double structure in the neighbourhood of the pivot axis, each of the two pivot pins is provided in very simple manner with a double bearing, so that the links, which are connected together, have very good lateral rigidity.
The links can be rapidly connected and disconnected by means of the two pivot pins, which can be taken out of the double structures.
According to an optional feature, the double structures form peripherally closed apertures which receive the bearing blocks on the tractor.
Advantageously, in the case of a device wherein the lower links are bent outwardly near the pivot axes, the aperture of each link is formed by a side bar secured at an oblique angle to the link adjacent the bend, the side bars being bent towards and secured to the links.
Variations of the device defined above are possible within the scope of the invention.
For example, the two links so far described may constitute lower links and one or two upper links may be added, the upper link or links being engaged by one or two extra bearing blocks on the tractor. Alternatively, two links may be arranged one above the other and be adapted to engage with correspondingly placed bearing blocks on the tractor. In either case the lower link or links may swing about one axis and the upper link or links may swing about another axis parallel thereto.
According to another advantageous feature of the invention, a tubular member is secured between the two guide rods.
Advantageously, a lever is secured to the tubular sectional member at a short distance from one of the links and co-operating with one of the links to form a bearing for a pin for pivoting a lifting cylinder acting on the links. According to another advantageous feature, struts are provided rigidly connected together to form an X and rigidly connected to the links.
One embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing.
The drawings shows a pair of draught links 2, 3 (in plan view) which are a part of a device for attaching implements to the front of a tractor. Between the two links 2, 3 are struts 4, 5 secured to each other and interconnected to form an X. Links 2, 3 are bent outwardly near their pivot axis on the tractor, in order to have the required shape for receiving implementconnecting elements 7, 8 disposed on the implement ends of links 2, 3. A spacer tube 12 is secured along the pivot axis of the pair of shafts and between the tractor ends 9, 10 of links 2, 3. A side bar 14, 15 extending parallel to the tractor ends 9, 10 and extending towards ends 9, 10 is secured to each of links 2, 3. Bars 14 and 15, which are secured at acute angles to the outwardly bent parts of the respective links 2 or 3, each form a peripherally closed aperture 16, 17 respectively for receiving bearing blocks 19, 20 on the tractor.
Through bores along the pivot axis of the guide rods are formed in the tractor ends 9, 10 and in bars 14, 15 so as to receive a removable pivot pin 21, 22 extending through bearing blocks 19, 20 respectively.
As a result of the double bearing for each pin 21, 22 and the described method of securing side bars 14, 15 to links 2 and 3, the device 1 has particularly good lateral rigidity when an implement is used.
A lever 23 is secured to tube 12 parallel to part 10 of link 3 and, at its free end, has a bore 24 for receiving a pin 25. The end of pin 25 facing link 3 engages a retaining member 26 secured to link 3. Pin 25 is used for pivoting a part 27 connected to a lifting cylinder.
Of course, the members used for manufacturing the two links can have different cross-sections from the tubular part 12 and the flat sectional members used for most other components.
In the embodiment so far described with reference to the drawing two bearing blocks are shown which are horizontally aligned.
However a number of variations are possible within the scope of the invention. For example, a third bearing block can be provided on the tractor, mounted at a higher level than the bearing blocks 19, 20 and a third link coupled to the two links 2, 3 can be provided to constitute a three point hitch. In this embodiment the links 2, 3 constitute lower links. Although coupled together the upper and lower links will, in operation, swing about their respective bearings.
In another variation a fourth bearing block, mounted at the said higher level, can also be provided, so that a four point support is provided. In either case provision may be made to couple the lifting cylinder either to the two lower links or to engage the upper link or links.
In another embodiment only two links are used but they are mounted one above the other and coupled together. They must then be movable about their respective bearings, and a lifting cylinder may be connected to either the upper or the lower link.
