Description

(54) UNIVERSAL 'NUTLESS' PLATE AND MEMBER (AUTOMOBILES) (71) I, DANIEL ROBINSON, 4, Walton Road, Liverpool, 4, British Nationality, do hereby declare the invention, for which I pray that a patent may be granted to me, and the method by which it is to be performed, to be particularly described in and by the following statement: This invention relates to an improved car seat belt harness anchorage plate. Up to the present it is assembled from a mild steel plate with a 10 mm clearance hole and a 10 mm projection weld nut. This new plate deletes the necessity for a propection weld operation. The plate has a lip which extends round the whole periphery of the base plate to increase all round strength. This plate is a new inovation in the automobile industry. The integration of the plate into the construction of the car body shell will result in considerable savings on operation times. This plate is of drop forge construction, the thread being inserted as part of the forging operation.
The plate is then normalised and oil blackened as a corrosion inhibitor.
DRAWINGS.
Plate No. 1 is a vertical elevational view of Rear Anchorage Plate.
Plate No. 1A is a side elevational view of No. 1.
Plate No. 2 is a vertical elevational view of inertia Anchorage Plate.
Plate No. 2A is a side elevational view of No. 2.
Plate No. 3 is a vertical elevational view of Top Centre Pillar Seat Belt Anchorage Plate.
Plate No. 3A is a side elevational view of No. 3.
Plate No. 4 is a vertical elevational view of Bottom Seat Belt Anchorage Plate.
Plate No. 4A is a side elevational view of No. 4.
Plate No. 5 is a vertical elevational view of Top Centre Pillar Anchorage Plate.
Plate No. 5A is a side elevational view of No. 5.
Referring to the drawings, the numerals on plates are: Plate 1.
Number 1 is outer plate of Drop Forge construction of which Number 2 is a nut, also being part of the Drop Forge construction.
Number 3 is the thread inserted as part of forging operation.
Plate 2.
Number 5 is outer plate of Drop Forge construction which also includes numbers 8 and 9 which are screw holes, also included in the Drop Forge method.
Plates 3, 4 and 5.
These are the same as Plate 1 i.e. Numbers 10, 13, 16 are outer plates of Drop Forge construction. Numbers 11, 14, 17 are nuts brought into being by the Drop Forge method. Numbers 12, 15, 18 are threads inserted as part of forging operation.
It can also be made in one operation.
It does not require any other attachments.
These plates will be manufactured by using multi pressing and tapping machines.
WHAT I CLAIM IS: - 1. An anchorage plate comprising a nut body having a threaded bore, and a base plate extending substantially radially from one end of the nut body, and integral therewith, the whole of the outer periphery of the base plate being bent to form a lip extending from the base plate in the same direction as the nut body.
2. An anchorage plate according to Claim 1, wherein these plates will be incorporated as part of a car body shell.
3. An anchorage plate according to Claim 1, or to Claim 2, wherein the base plate is circular, square, or any other shape or size.
4. An anchorage plate according to Claims 1 to 3, wherein the nut body is circular or square, for inertia or static car safety harness seat belts, see accompanying drawings, types 1, 2 and 4.
