Abstract
158,258. Priborsky, J. May 15, 1917, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Composite boilers.-A boiler is built up of fluetube boilers 1, 2, Figs. 1 and 2, water-tubes 8 connecting the flue-tube boilers to an upper drum 5, and side multitubular drums 3, 4 connected to the flue-tube boilers by down-carriers 9 and to the upper drum by water and steam pipes 7, 6. The combustion gases pass into a combustion chamber 32 at the back of the flue-tube boilers and return round the water-tubes to the front of the multitubular drums, through which they pass to the uptake 13. A feed-heater 11 is placed ir the uptake, and a superheater 19 is. placed at the entrance to the multitubular drums. The upper drum 23, Fig. 7, is connected by water tubes 24 to drums 19 at the sides of the grate, the gases passing forwards and backwards around baffles 24 before they enter the front ends of the multi tubular drums 21, 22. Air for combustion is heated in fire-brick chambers 17, Fig. 2, behind the fire-bridge. The heated air passes through passages in the rear wall of the combustion cham ber and enters the chamber through perfora tions 18.
