(54) MOUNTING PLATE FOR ELECTRICAL INSTRUMENTS COMPONENTS
AND LAMPS

Laws of Germany, of Stuttgarter Strasse119, 712 Bietigheim, Bissingen, Germany, do hereby declare the invention, for which we pray that a patent may be granted to us, and the method by which it is to be performed, to be particularly described in and by the following statement: This invention concerns a mounting plate for instruments and indicators.
It is known from automobile models on the market to plug instruments such as a fuel indicator, or a temperature indicator on a printed circuit board. Furthermore bulb sockets, fuses and voltage regulators are attached to such a board. Because the printed circuit board is relatively thin, it only has a
small rigidity. Because of the arrangement of the devices mentioned this is still more disadvantageous, so that the assembly has to be carried out with special care. Furthermore strengthenings are necessary for fastening in the instrument panel.
According to the present invention there is provided a mounting plate comprising: a printed circuit board for receiving measuring
or indicating instruments, electrical components and lamps; wherein cover housings for the instruments, covers for the electrical components, and lamp sockets are formed
as integral parts of a housing frame comprising a unitary panel assembly fitted to the printed circuit board and increasing its mechanical strength.

cribed below with reference to the accompanying drawings, of which:
Figure 1 is a top view on a mounting plate the housing frame of which is shown in a part-sectioned view;
Figure 2 is a section taken on the line II-II in figure 1;
Figure 3 is a section taken on the line III-III in figure 1; and
Figure 4 is a view according to the direction
IV in figure 1.
On a printed circuit board 1 are arranged an instrument 2 indicating temperature, an instrument 3 indicating the level of fuel in a fuel tank as well as a voltage regulator 4.
These instruments are connected to metal conductors 5. The instruments mentioned are by way of example only and can be supplemented or replaced by further instruments, such as an ammeter. The metal conductors 5 lead to plug connections 6. The complete arrangement is covered by a housing frame 7 (Figures 2 and 3) comprising a unitary panel assembly fitted to the printed circuit board and increasing its mechanical strength. Said housing frame consists of a socket strip 8 comprising individual sockets 9 receiving pilot lamps 10, a cover 11 for the voltage regulator 4 as well as covers 12 and 13 with a transparent area 14 for the instruments 2 and 3. The transparent area 14 permits sight of a pointer 15 running in front of an intermediate web 16 covering the components of the instruments. The scale 17 can thereby selectively be printed on the intermediate web 16 or on the area 14.
Furthermore a prolongation 18 with a receiving groove 19 for further components 20 (such as a further printed circuit board) is formed on the housing frame 7. The groove itself can contain plug connections (not shown).

1. A mounting plate comprising: a printed circuit board for receiving measuring or indicating instruments, electrical components and lamps; wherein cover housings for the instruments, covers for the electrical components, and lamp sockets are formed as integral parts of a housing frame comprising a unitary panel assembly fitted to the printed

Claims (5)
1. A mounting plate comprising: a printed circuit board for receiving measuring or indicating instruments, electrical components and lamps; wherein cover housings for the instruments, covers for the electrical components, and lamp sockets are formed as integral parts of a housing frame comprising a unitary panel assembly fitted to the printed circuit board, and increasing its mechanical strength.
2. A plate according to claim 1, wherein the components and the instruments are directly mounted on the printed circuit board.
3. A plate according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the housing frame is provided with a receiving groove for further components.
4. A plate according to claim 3, wherein the receiving groove is provided with plug connections.
5. A mounting plate substantially as described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
