Description

(54) A MOBILE DOMESTIC GAS-BURNING HEATER (71) We, METALICAS DE PAMPLONA, S.A., a Spanish Body Corporate, of Crta.
de Zaragoza, Km. 5-NOAIN (NAVAR RA)-Spain, do hereby declare the invention for which we pray that a patent may be granted to us, and the method by which it is to be performed, to be particularly described in and by the following statement: The invention relates to a mobile domestic gas-burning heater.
The present invention consists in a mobile domestic gas-burning heater which comprises a body mounted upon a wheeled base, said body including a frame which supports two deflectors one above the other; the upper deflector being disposed between a front sheet-like member having perforations therein and an interior insulating wall; the lower end of said upper deflector being rigidly secured to the frame and the upper end of said deflector being connected to the frame by a spring rod; a portion of said upper deflector near the lower end thereof taking the form of a heat-reflector plate; the lower deflector supporting a tray which carries refractory plaques and which is rigidly secured to said insulating wall; a thermo-couple and an ignition device and an atmosphere analyser mounted adjacent the front of said plaques; a gas-distributing outlet being securely attached to the tray and being in fluid communication with said plaques; and a single control knob for ignition of and for regulation of the supply of gas to said plaques, said knob being accessibly positioned at the top of said body.
The present invention will now be more particularly described with reference to the accompanying diagrammatic drawings, in which: - Figure 1 illustrates the front elevation of a movable domestic gas-burning heater according to the invention, certain parts of the enclosing body and the safety grille having been omitted in the interests of clarity; and Figure 2 illustrates a side elevation of the heater shown in Figure 1, part of the enclosing body having been shown broken away to reveal the arrangement of the operative elements of the heater.
Referring to the drawings, there is illustrated therein a mobile domestic gasburning heater having a housing or body 1 which is mounted upon a base 2 having caster wheels 3. The body 1 is carried by a frame 4 which provides direct or indirect support for an upper deflector 5 and a lower deflector 6. The body 1 includes, at the front thereof and in the upper zone of the front, a sheet-like member 7 having perforations therein. The greater proportion of the deflector 5 is disposed between said member 7 and an insulating wall 8.
The deflector 5 is rigidly secured at its lower end to the frame 4 and is secured at its upper end to said frame by a spring rod 9. The deflector 5 extends downwardly from the top of the frame and has a terminal portion, near the lower end of the deflector 5, which is angled quite sharply towards the interior of the body 1 in order to form a heat-deflector plate 10.
The lower deflector 6 is connected to a co-called tray 11 having three refractory plaques 12, the tray 11 being secured at its rear to the insulating wall 8.
A gas-distributing outlet 21, having a nipple 13 facilitating connection thereof by a flexible pipe to a gas cylinder (not illustrated) which is accommodated in the rear compartment of the body 1, is controlled by a single control knob 22 and its ancillary push-rod 23. Operation of the knob in one sense causes gas to be fed from the gas cylinder to the plaques 12 by way of a Venturi pipe 14 and also to become ignited by a piezo-electric ignition device 17. The heater is further provided with a thermocouple 16 which acts as a flame-failure sensing device and an atmosphere analyser 15 which acts as a device operable to sense inadequate ventilation.
The ignition device 17, the analyser 15 and the thermocouple 16 are connected to the outlet 21 by connections 20, 18 and 19, respectively.
The outlet 21 is provided with a shut-off valve, a gas-flow valve and a piezo-electric cell. Moreover, said outlet 21 is attached to the rear of the tray 11.
It will be appreciated that the heater, when connected to a gas cylinder and switched on, will give out radiant heat from the heated plaques 12 and will also warm air as it circulates over the heated plaques, said warmed air being deflected by the deflector 5 and escaping through the perforations in the member 7.
WHAT WE CLAIM IS: 1. A mobile domestic gas-burning heater which comprises a body mounted upon a wheeled base, said body including a frame which supports two deflectors one above the other; the upper deflector being disposed between a front sheet-like member having perforations therein and an interior insulating wall; the lower end of said upper deflector being rigidly secured to the frame and the upper end of said upper deflector being connected to the frame by a spring rod; a portion of said upper deflector near the lower end thereof taking the form of a heat-reflector plate; the lower deflector sup porting a tray which carries refractory plaques and which is rigidly secured to said insulating wall; a thermo-couple and an ignition device and an atmosphere analyser mounted adjacent the front of said plaques; a gas-distributing outlet being securely attached to the tray and being in fluid communication with said plaques; and a single control knob for ignition of and for regulation of the supply of gas to said plaques, said knob being accessibly positioned at the top of said body.
2. A mobile domestic gas-burning heater constructed and arranged substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as illustrated in the accompanying diagrammatic drawings.
