Abstract

156,962. Brown, F. A. J. Nov. 13, 1919. Hand-trucks.-Relates to apparatus for conveying articles, comprising a container on wheels, and a trolly having a table on which the container can be carried when required, and' consists of an improved container enabled to be run to or from the table into or out of a vehicle, and a trolly having an arrangement for tipping the pivoted table to facilitate movement of the container. The container comprises a base a' of angle-iron or tubing with wood decking, and four upright angle-irons a<2> connected at the ends by arches and across by a ridge member a<6>. Three horizontal angle-irons b serve as supports for shelves made of angle-iron framing c filled by wire mesh; two of the shelves being adapted to be slid vertically between flanges of the uprights and of the base to form sides when required, their lower ends being then supported by gusset-pieces aa and their upper ends by sliding latches d<6>. The container runs on four castors a<10> and has at each side two guiding brackets e<15> contacting with guides e<5> on the table, which has a fixed end stop e<6> and a movable stop e<7>. The table is pivoted on pins e<2> passing through lugs e<1>, e<3> on the table and on the trolly. A pivoted flap e<8> on the table bridges the gap to the vehicle floor. The trolly has one fixed and one swivelling axle. Links g<5> connected to the front end of the table connect with a nut working on a screwed spindle g<2> mounted in a framing on the trolly and operated by a hand-wheel g<1> to tip the table as required. A ramp h having wheels h<2> on a crosspiece h<1> and a chamfered lower end, may be used to facilitate the movement of the container, angleiron side guides being provided thereon, together with a pivoted flap h<4>. The front end of the table may be provided with a winch-drum to facilitate loading.
