Abstract
155,839. Krupp Akt.-Ges., F. April 14, 1919, [Convention date]. Hopper wagons.-In a railway hopper-wagon or like receptacle having a discharge bottom C adapted to tilt to either side about one or other of two axes A<2>, the bottom is mounted by means of intermediate pivoted links D upon two crank-arms b<1> which are adapted in the normal or loading position, Fig. 1, to be in vertical alignment with the links D and are prevented from swinging outwardly by abutments a<3> on the underframe A. Stops c' on the undersurface of the bottom C prevent any lateral displacement of the bottom relatively to the links in the loading position. The side walls E are supported in bearings a<4> on the end walls A' and have bearings e' at their lower edges engaging journals c<3> on the bottom c so that one side wall or the other is lifted when the bottom tilts. When the contents of the wagon are to be discharged, say, to the left, the left hand crank-arm b<1> is' rotated inwardly as shown in Fig. 2, while the right hand crank-arm remains vertical, stops c<2> on the bottom C being adapted to engage the abutments a<3> to limit the extent of the movements. Locking- devices may be provided for preventing accidental displacement of the crank-arms b<1>.
