Abstract

The suction-ventilated wet cooling tower (1) has an internal cooling fitting (2) consisting of scrubbing surfaces, a water feeding device (3) arranged above the internal cooling fitting (2), an axial ventilator (5) arranged in the upper part of the wet cooling tower (1), and a receiving basin (6), located in the lower part, for recooled water. The wet cooling tower (1) further has a square cross-section with two rectangular suction openings (7), which are arranged in opposite walls and in which plate-shaped louvre elements (8) clamped in bows (11) are suspended spaced apart and in a pendulum-like fashion from bearing rods (12). In the rest position, open gaps are present between the individual louvre elements (8). In the working state, air is sucked through the cooling tower (1) by the ventilator (5) in a countercurrent with respect to the water. In this case, the louvre elements (8) are raised by the suction air flowing through, and the air inlet cross-section is enlarged. The advantage of the device consists in an automatic enlargement or reduction in the air inlet cross-section, depending on the flow direction and flow rate of the air, without a mechanical drive device. Moreover, such an air inlet louvre releases a sufficiently large air inlet cross-section even in its position of rest. <IMAGE>
