Abstract

Draught appliances.-A safety coupling or draught connexion which releases automatically when the load exceeds a predetermined value comprises two separate members connected together at one end, a catch on the free end of one member, a dog pivoted on the free end of the other member and resilient means for holding the dog and catch in engagement. As shown, the device comprises bars 1, 2 connected together at one end and to the drawn vehicle by a bolt 3 and clevis 4, the draught chain 16 being attached to a rotatable dog 6 normally retained in position by a catch 5 on the bar 2 which is pressed towards the bar 1 by an adjustable spring 15 mounted on a bolt 11 passing through the bars 1, 2. The bar 1 is forked to receive the dog 6 which rotates on a bolt 7 secured on the bar, and the engaging surfaces of the dog 6 and catch 5 are rounded.
