Abstract

The composite material (1) bears on one side a bondable coating (2) and consists of silver metal oxide. At least three layers are internally oxidised and are welded together and to the bondable coating by roll bonding cladding. The roll bonding cladding of a plurality of individual sheets has the effect of reducing the measurable variation in the size of the incorporated particles in dependence on the starting thickness and final thickness. This results in a uniform contact behaviour over the entire thickness of the material. Since the bondable coating is generally very thin in relation to the overall thickness, virtually the entire contact height can be used for erosion, thereby achieving a longer service life. <IMAGE>
