Abstract

155,245. Akt.-Ges. Brown, Boveri, et Cie. Dec. 6, 1919, [Convention date]. Fluid governors. -A liquid governor comprises a rotating casing A containing a piston B which may be moved against the action of a spring D by the pressure of a liquid annulus C. The height G of the annulus is kept constant by supplying an excess of liquid, the excess flowing away by centrifugal action over an annular edge. The excess liquid may be sup plied by means of a conveyer ring on the governor shaft, or by a pump. In another form, the governor is arranged on the shaft between a safety governor and a centrifugal wheel which circulates the oil for lubricating and controlling purposes, and the exhaust oil is used as the excess feed liquid for the governor. An extension of the piston is formed as a slide valve for regulating the flow of the oil. Ribs L may be provided on the piston to prevent relative rotation between the liquid and piston.
