Abstract

Two conveying devices (4, 5), arranged respectively on the entry and exit side of the levelling rollers (1), are provided, these conveying devices having rotating drivers (6) which act on both sides of the strip (3). The tensile stress is recorded by a measuring device. In order to be able to eliminate the effect of the variation in the coefficient of friction between the metal strip (3) and the drivers (6), the strip (3) is subjected between the drivers (6) of each conveying device (4, 5) to pressure, the pressure of the drivers (6) on the strip (3) being varied as a function of the tensile stress measured. <IMAGE>
