Abstract

The process permits the process course when dyeing or optically brightening textile material according to the exhaust method, - e.g. with respect to the quality of the dyeing or the brightening effect and/or to the minimisation of the expenditure of time, energy or auxiliary chemicals to be consumed -, to be conducted optimally. For the determination of the concentration change of the dyestuffs or optical brighteners in the dyestuff or optical brightener single- or multi-component system employed, this system is considered on the basis of the empirical values in the immediate past using a model in order to determine the optimal control parameters which are used as discrete operating or control values for the self-adjusting direct digital control of the course of the process. Using this process, the course of the process when dyeing using dyestuffs or brighteners which in solution do not obey Lambert-Beer's law can be optimally conducted.
