Abstract
154,677. Hoyle, J. K. Aug. 27, 1919. Load, engaging, releasing, and depositing.-Relates to loading and unloading gear for aerial ropeways &c. A hanger c is suitably suspended from a continuously running rope R and carries a pivoted hook h adapted to engage the handle e of the bucket or carrier a. The inclination of the rope or slope of the ground ensures that the bucket is raised from the ground or truck b, so that it can be transported to the discharging position, where a curved bar g, Fig. 2, strikes a sheave o on the hook and tilts it. As the sheave leaves the curved bar, the bucket is deposited on a truck &c., its handle striking the shank of the hook and so being thrown clear. In a modification, the hook is carried by toggle linkage A, Fig. 5, provided with a. trip-lever F and suspended from the rope by a grip G. At the discharging point, the trip-lever strikes a fixed stop (not shown) so that the trip-lever through linkage E withdraws an engaging arm E<1> from stops on the transverse spring-held bar J<1> of the toggle linkage and allows it to collapse, as shown, and deposit the load.
