Abstract

In the case of a crucible for holding the melt for pulling crystals from a high-melting metal which is comparatively resistant to oxygen or oxidants, the wall or the wall and the bottom of the crucible are of a multilayer design, a core of a high-melting metal being surrounded by a sheath which is made of a platinum metal and which is coated with an oxide layer on at least one of its outer faces. Said oxide skin is also designed as a separating layer between the core and the sheath. The wall, the bottom and the protective skin on the inside of the crucible may be detachable with respect to one another. The invention permits a reduction of the manufacturing costs for crucibles of this type as well as a reduction of corrosion and thus an increase in the service life.
