1537522 Rotary positive displacement fluid machines NIPPON PISTON RING KK and TOYOTA JIDOSHA KOGYO KK 2 March 1976 [24 June 1975] 08391/76 Heading F1F Vanes 12 for a sliding-vane rotary pump or compressor have sealing tips comprising a flat surface 12a substantially normal to the surface 12c, and a tapered surface 12b, and are mounted in a rotor having backwardly inclined non-radial slots, the surface 12c being the rear surface of the vane with respect to the sense of rotation of the rotor. The dimension l 1 is preferably between <SP>1</SP>/ 10 and ¢ the thickness of the vane and the angle # 1 is between 5 degrees and 10 degrees greater than the angle between a vane slot and a plane passing through the rotor axis and the centre of the bottom of the slot.
