Abstract
1537412 Centrifugal separators; gas separation P AUGUST 3 March 1977 [13 March 1976] 08948/77 Headings B1L and B2P A gas mixture is separated into its components by subjecting the mixture to a centrifugal force and allowing the lighter component to pass through a porous body 7. In the embodiment shown, a cylinder 1 has inlets 4 and outlets 5 and 6 and is provided with a rotatable shaft 2 having a porous body 7 and blades 8 secured thereto. The cylinder 1 may rotate or remain stationary. When air is introduced through the inlets 4, an oxygen-enriched mixture passes through the outlet 5 and a nitrogen-enriched mixture through the outlet 6. In a modification, the porous body 7 is fixed and only the blades 8 rotate.
