Abstract

1537195 -Automatic control of fuel injection in I C engines WISSENSCHAFTLICHTECHNISCHES ZENTRUM AUTOMOBILBAU KARL-MARX-STADT VEB 2 June 1977 [3 June 1976 23 Dec 1976] 23392/77 Heading G3N Fuel injection control apparatus having inherent fuel limiting provision for an engine which apparatus includes an element mounted for rotation with the engine and capable of generating a non-uniform pulse train of equal duration pulses, the non-uniformity representing the fuel limitation, a first signal generator responsive to the number of pulses received during a predetermined period determined from a datum angular position of the engine crankshaft, a second signal generator providing a signal proportional to engine loading, a multiplier which combines the first and second signals to produce a product signal which is compared with a sawtooth voltage representing the rotation of the crankshaft and a comparator to compare the product signal with the sawtooth voltage and a reference signal so that fuel injection is started when the product signal equals the instantaneous sawtooth voltage and is stopped when the sawtooth voltage equals the reference signal. As shown in Fig. 1 elements 110 and 210 are attached to the crankshaft of the engine and produce the sawtooth voltage U # and the non- uniform pulse train I 21 respectively. The signal U # is used to generate a cycle duration signal I # and a measurement time signal t m . AND gate 24 transmits the pulse train I 21 during the period tm to voltage converter 22 which provides a voltage to store 50 at the end of the measurement time. A voltage generator 25 produces a voltage proportional to the position of the accelerator pedal and this is multiplied in multiplier 20 by the store output voltage to produce a product voltage Up. A comparator 40 is supplied with a reference voltage Vb, which may be zero, and effects a comparison of the sawtooth voltage U # with the product V p which starts an injection pulse when they are equal and the sawtooth voltage U# with the reference voltage U# so that the pulse is terminated when they are equal. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the multiplier is directly connected to the voltage converter 22 and the product voltage is stored. Specification 1514348 is referred to.
