1537040 Adaptive equalizers PLESSEY CO Ltd 14 Dec 1976 [20 Dec 1975] 52268/75 Heading H4R In an equalizer of the type in which the quantized output of the equalizer is fed to the input of a transversal filter the output of which is subtracted from the incoming signal to provide the input to the quantizer, signals within a predetermined range of zero, i.e. indicating only the presence of noise, are detected by a set zero detector and inhibit the feed of the output signal of the quantizer to the transversal filter, so as to inhibit feed of erroneous signals during start-up of signalling, i.e. prior to reception of the first signal character.
