Abstract

1537034 Gas scrubber D A G MARSHALL 2 Feb 1976 [31 Jan 1975] 4271/75 Heading B1R A gas scrubber for cleaning air comprises a bath 10 for holding cleansing liquid, an air inlet 12 arranged to discharge air to be scrubbed below the surface of the cleansing liquid via perforate cage 16, a stack of filters 62, 64, 66 and 68 containing activated carbon to remove O 3 from the air and an air outlet containing a paper filter 74. A chamber 22 contains a transverse apertured plate 54 to dewater the air as it rises through sleeve 30, the separated water collecting in the compartment 56. Rolled wire mesh 34 and 60 and splash plates 38 and 40 help to catch any splashes of liquid caused by the rising gas. The cleansing solution is preferably sodium carbonate solution to remove N 2 O and SO 2 from the gas.
